What is Nanigo?

NANIGO is the name for the National Association for American African Dance Teachers' annual dance intensive. Artists from all over the United States convene to deepen their collective knowledge of African dance. The  NANIGO uses Umfundalai, a contemporary African Dance technique to employ a multi-faceted approach to teaching and learning the movement traditions of Black people.

Request for Proposals

"Umfundalai and" Workshop Series

 Submit a proposal to present a workshop that explores Umfundalai from an interdisciplinary lens.

Dancing Our Africa Concert

Submit an excerpt of your choreographic work  to be considered for inclusion in  the "Dancing Our Africa" Concert.
